Wentling Discusses Lake Erie Fishing Permit Funding Expansion Legislation with PA Fish and Boat Commission Officials
March 4, 2020
ERIE – On March 3, Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Crawford/Erie/Lawrence/Mercer) met with PA Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) Executive Director Tim Schaeffer (center) and PFBC District 1 Commissioner Dan Pastore during a legislative briefing held at the Tom Ridge Environmental Center.
Topics of discussion included trout stocking for the 2020 season, safe boating and Wentling’s legislation to broaden the allocation of proceeds from Lake Erie fishing permits or stamps issued by the PFBC.
Unanimously approved in the state House on Jan. 15, House Bill 1187 would give the PFBC greater flexibility in determining the best ways to invest these funds to improve and expand public fishing opportunities at Lake Erie, Presque Isle Bay and their tributaries.
House Bill 1187 is currently awaiting consideration in the state Senate.
