Wentling Announces Major Grant for Jamestown Municipal Authority Project

January 22, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced that the Jamestown Municipal Authority has received a $1,099,860 grant through PENNVEST for a pipe replacement project.

PENNVEST funding specifically serves projects in Pennsylvania that focus on sewer, storm water and drinking water projects.

"This fully funded grant from PENNVEST will help improve Jamestown's sewer system, making sure that it continues to run efficiently,” said Wentling. “I was happy to support this project and bring funding home to the 7th Legislative District."

This project came about after internal closed-circuit television footage of the system recorded in 2022 showed the existing asbestos cement pipe was in fair condition and suitable for relining. To remediate this issue, cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) will be used to line approximately 14,500 feet of the existing system. The liner is anticipated to extend the lifespan of the pipe by approximately 50 years.
