Wentling Announces Grants for Veterans Services in Mercer County
April 2, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) today announced that grant funding has been awarded for two veteran services organizations located in Mercer County.
Mercer County Veterans Affairs (VA) has been awarded $15,000 to support new, innovative, or expanded programs or services. Mercer County Food Bank, located in Sharon, has been awarded $40,000 to support veterans and their families through the MilitaryShare food assistance program.
“I am honored to bring home this funding for our local veterans that directly supports food programs, providing assistance to those who have selflessly served our country,” said Wentling.
This funding comes from $1,021,640 in grants through the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs’ (DMVA) Veterans’ Trust Fund (VTF). The $1,021,640 in funding raised through donations will support 15 county directors of veterans’ affairs and 24 nonprofit and veterans service organizations across the Commonwealth as they carry out initiatives to address challenges Pennsylvania veterans face, from food and housing insecurity to transportation and behavioral health issues.
Donations from Pennsylvanians fund the VTF. This is done through direct donations online, as well as donations when applying for or renewing driver’s licenses, photo IDs or motor vehicle registrations. The VTF also receives proceeds from the sale of the?Honoring Our Veterans?and?Honoring Our Women Veterans?license plates, as well as private donations.
