Wentling Announces Area Organizations to Receive Neighborhood Assistance Program Tax Credits
December 16, 2025
HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced today that two organizations located in the 7th Legislative District received tax credits from the Pennsylvania Department of Economic Development’s (DCED) Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP).
The two organizations are as follows:
- The Community Food Warehouse of Mercer County, located in Sharon, will receive $158,353 in funding from NAP. It will use the funding to combat food insecurity by sourcing and distributing more food, including fresh produce from local farmers. This will help provide well-balanced meals to over 13,000 residents each month who use the warehouse for assistance.
- The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation will receive $342,000 in funding to support the Sharon Home Repair Project. The Sharon Home Repair Project will assist 25 low-to-moderate-income households with critical home repairs. The project aims to improve housing quality, preserve homeownership, and stabilize property values by focusing on urgent needs like leaking roofs and failing mechanical systems.
“This is excellent news for our community in the 7th Legislative District. Both organizations serve people in our community every day, and this funding will assist them greatly in their mission,” said Wentling.
“We’re very thankful to our local businesses and farmers for their support when food insecurity is on the rise. Because of their contributions, Mercer County Food Bank will continue filling plates for our neighbors in need,” said Alexis Spence-Locke, Mercer County Food Bank development director.
“The Sharon Community Development Corporation is excited to partner with the planning commission, the city of Sharon, and the Youngstown Neighborhood Development corporation to enhance housing rehab and neighborhood stabilization efforts, which will be ramping up in the next year through the support of local contributors to the NAP program,” said Angie Urban, executive director of the Sharon CDC.
The NAP is a tax credit program to encourage businesses to invest in projects which improve distressed areas.
