Wentling Announces Grant for Mercer County Food Bank
March 27, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) today announced that grant funding has been awarded to the Mercer County Food Bank to support its MilitaryShare program.
Mercer County Food Bank will receive $40,000 to purchase food for the program. MilitaryShare provides nine annual private food distributions for veterans and military personnel and their families at designated sites throughout Mercer County.
“This funding will help the Mercer County Food Bank serve more than 600 of our veterans in need across our community,” said Wentling.
This funding comes from $804,973 in grants through the Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Veterans’ Trust Fund (VTF). The $804,973 in citizen-donated funding will support nine county directors of Veterans Affairs and 19 nonprofits and Veterans Service Organizations across the Commonwealth as they carry out initiatives to address challenges Pennsylvania veterans face, from food and housing insecurity to transportation and behavioral health issues.
Donations from Pennsylvanians fund the VTF. This is done through direct donations online, as well as donations when applying for or renewing driver’s licenses, photo IDs or motor vehicle registrations. The VTF also receives proceeds from the sale of the?Honoring Our Veterans?and?Honoring Our Women Veterans?license plates, as well as private donations. Every dollar donated to VTF goes directly to fund grants that benefit veterans.
