Wentling Announces Grants for Farrell Area School District, Mercer County PA CASA Branch
April 15, 2026
HARRISBURG – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) announced today that Farrell Area School District (FASD) and the Mercer County branch of the Pennsylvania Court Appointed Special Advocates (PA CASA) were awarded grant funding from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency (PCCD).
FASD will receive $418,663 to launch Project COMPLETE (Community Opportunities for Mentoring, Prevention, Learning and Engagement), a comprehensive K-12 out of school time initiative, allowing FASD to create afterschool programs to support students of all ages across the district.
The Mercer County branch of PA CASA is receiving funding earmarked for multiple counties, totaling $500,000 between them, to support their youth advocacy programs.
“This funding will be a great help to Farrell Area School District as they look to increase and improve afterschool programs for K-12 students,” said Wentling. “Along with the funding going to Mercer County’s branch of PA CASA, these dollars will help children across the 7th Legislative District and ensure those who need the most help are supported.”
The grants were awarded through the Violence Intervention and Prevention (VIP) and Building Opportunities through Out-of-School Time (BOOST) programs. PCCD’s School Safety and Security Committee approved 177 VIP and BOOST projects totaling more than $65 million to boost after-school programming for youth across the Commonwealth.
