Wentling: More Than $1.18 Million Awarded for School Safety, Mental Health

GREENVILLE – Rep. Parke Wentling (R-Mercer) on Thursday announced more than $1.18 million in School Safety and Mental Health Grants will be awarded to eight school districts serving communities in the 7th Legislative District. The money will be used for physical security enhancements, behavioral health supports or both.

“As a former educator, I know school safety depends on strong physical measures and strong student support,” Wentling said. “School leaders know their students and buildings best, and these grants will help them put resources where they’ll have the greatest impact. That’s money well spent for our kids, our teachers and our communities.”

The grants are: 

  • Farrell Area School District – $131,010.
  • Greenville Area School District – $152,913. 
  • Hermitage School District – $185,601. 
  • Jamestown Area School District – $114,353. 
  • Reynolds School District – $141,518. 
  • Sharon City School District – $183,544. 
  • Sharpsville Area School District – $142,065. 
  • West Middlesex Area School District – $129,778. 
  • Keystone Education Center Charter School – $70,000.
  • Mercer County Career Center – $70,000.
  • Midwestern Intermediate Unit 4 – $70,000.

The noncompetitive grant program is administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Each school district receives a base allocation of $100,000, plus additional funding calculated using its 2024-25 adjusted average daily membership.
